Welcome to you all - regardless of whether you're here to read or take part in the discussion.  Smile

If you simply want to read, scroll down and see what your fellow-parents have to say.

But, if you want to contribute, then first you'll need to register. Simply click on 'Register' up above to get involved. Once registered click through to the Forum and then it's as simple as scrolling to the most recent post at the bottom of this forum, type your own thoughts in the blank window and click on "Post Reply".  Clap

This chatroom is meant as a resource so you can connect, exchange info and support each through the process of parenting your girls. It'd be great if you did participate as the more of us that get involved the more valuable this resource is for us all.

And don't forget, my new book, "GirlForce; a Girl's Guide to the Body and Soul" is now on sale. It's making a very real difference in the lives of teenage girls.  And it's a wonderful tool to help parents talk with their daughters about some tricky subjects.  You can order it now at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1599903547/bloomsburymag-20/

Warm regards,
Nikki. Smile

my daughter just brought home this book today and I must say that it is a wonderful way to deal with self esteem in a way that is not preaching.

Clearly issues such as lying, eating and fashion seem to dominate this household

I hope there will be an opportunity to have a group chat with you and other parents

My daughter read the entire book in one day and it just seems that we have connected at a better level

thanks

Mary

Hi Mary

That's wonderful! Thank you for the positive feedback.

I'd love to know more about how things are going with your daughter? As you say, lying, eating and fashion are key teen topics. What are the main issues as you see them? I imagine it's a lot about her will versus your will - as it is with most mothers of teenage girls. I am thrilled she read it in one day and it's helped you connect. Might I suggest you read it yourself, do the quiz and start a conversation with her about all the ways you're similar and all the ways you're different. Make sure, in this conversation, you restrict it to just talking about the quiz results (so she feels safe to share some intimacies with you) and leave any discussions about her "behaviour" to another moment. I'd love to know what happens?
